The MHS library has many books on famous Americans. These can be found by searching the OPAC by last name. The online sources listed below include information on Americans you have selected. Many of these focus on pop culture figures like musicans, actors/actresses, comedians, and sports figures.     Search Biography Resource Center first. Then try other sites as they pertain to you topic.

This trial database includes 422,000 biographies and is only available for a limited time.

The Biography ChannelBiography.com provides brief biographies for over 25,000 lives, past and present and often links to related websites that include in-depth info.
Rolling Stone Magazine Online includes: music and movie reviews, musical artists, and photos of pop culture entertainers. Search their news archives for articles on your famous American. Browse MTV's News Archives by band or artist name. "Biographies" are hard to come by. You can search the Interviews & Features section for more in-depth articles on your figure.
Comedians A-Z is full of videos, bios and other info on your favorite stand-ups. Choose a letter and browse or just have a look at our featured comedians below.
Spin.comSpin Magazine Online includes up-to-date new articles and more on famous American musicians.
IMDb's logo The Internet Movie Database (IMDb)  is an online database of information about actors, movies, television shows, television stars and video games. You can search actor biographies. Directions

Directions: In your research paper you will examine how the famous American you selected has archived or has not achieved the American Dream. Discuss the political, social, and/or economic factors that influence the person's life.

BEFORE you begin your research, answer the following guide questions.

1) What is your interpretation of the American Dream?

2) Are there groups or individuals who are excluded from the American Dream? Why or why not?

3) How attainable to the American Dream? Is it an elusive ideal or a realistic goal?

Research Paper Requirements:

All research papers must be typed - MLA : 12 point, Times New Roman font, double spaced, 10inch margins
