According to L.A. Times reporter, Steve Lopez, "Roughly 10,000 people flop on skid row streets each night, up to half of them mentally ill." This is one of the many reasons Mr. Thomas's class collected bags of clothing to take to members of the homeless community living in Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles. In October 2005 The L.A. Times did a five-story stories about issues in this area called Life on the Streets. You can join others who are working to provide help for Skid Row.
